Matthew 5.1-12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the side of a mountain and sat down. Jesus' disciples gathered around him, and he taught them: God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven! God blesses those people who grieve. They will find comfort! God blesses those people who are humble. The earth will belong to them! God blesses those people who want to obey him more than to eat or drink. They will be given what they want! God blesses those people who are merciful. They will be treated with mercy! God blesses those people whose hearts are pure. They will see him! God blesses those people who make peace. They will be called his children! God blesses those people who are treated badly for doing right. They belong to the kingdom of heaven. God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.

Jesus’ favourite teaching theme was the kingdom of God. He spoke about this more than any other subject. In Jesus’ day people believed that only Jewish, male, religiously upright, healthy and wealthy people could enter the kingdom of God – everyone else was excluded. Time and time again, Jesus blessed the poor, the sick, the women and children. He demonstrated that all people are included and welcome. Jesus was turning the values of the world upside down.

Church Council

Our next Church Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th where Wendy Perkins from Synod will be joining us as the council continues to discuss and dissect our financial situation. If you have any matters or comments that you wish the Church Council to discuss please feel free to speak with the Chairman - Peter Smith - the council is there to represent you.

Name Tags

It is always great to welcome new people and visitor's into our worship, but for some it can be quiet intimidating when you don't know anyone. An easy way to assist in making them feel at home and part of our fellowship is for us to wear name tags so that the next time they see us they can greet us by name. If you need a new name tag please speak with Kathy Bassell and she will be only too pleased to arrange a new one for you

Future New Items

On most Sunday's the worship leaders are inundated with requests for them to make announcements during the service. In most cases these could be pre-planned and included here in the InTouch newsletter where everyone can have all the details. If you have any future announcements please email them to by COB on Wednesday.
