Matthew 24:36

"But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

It is hard to not know something! It's a relief when we finally discover the cause of an illness. The diagnosis may not be great but at least we know what we are dealing with.
Conversely having knowledge that others don't have can give us an advantage. Many have claimed to know when Christ will return, usually to attract attention and followers through their special knowledge. Wikipedia has a great article which lists over 50 of the more popular declarations, yet none have been right. My guess is that no one ever will be right in setting a date, only God knows.

However, let me add my own prediction. Christ will come today because Christ is always present. Advent is a time for us to prepare ourselves for Christ. Now.

Free new Children's Christmas book available

This November the celebrated author of the EJ12 Girl Hero and EJ Spy School series as well as Fairy Tales for Feisty Girls and Bold Tales for Brave-Hearted Boys, is releasing a new Christmas title, The Who, What, Why, How of Christmas. Working in partnership with Bible Society Australia, Susannah McFarlane asks some key questions about the Christmas story and explores Jesus’ birth through the eyes of four fictional characters.
McFarlane says, “Having only become a Christian three and a half years ago, I am realising that in our post-Christian society, children of Gen X and Gen Y families may never have heard or asked why there was such excitement about the birth of Jesus."
Bible Society Australia is offering The Who, What, Why, How of Christmas FREE to individuals and churches who register online. The church offer went live on 1 October and the individual offer began on 1 November.

Update on Care and Share Shop

A new Carers' Committee has been formed and the Op Shops are continuing and doing well. Care and Share has appointed Linda Holt as the CEO. The Committee is looking into ways of donating money back into the community where there is a need. We are no longer doing food parcels which are catered for at Vinnies and Salvos. Donations of clothes and bric-a-brac are gratefully received.

Please speak to Margaret Houston if you would like to know more.

SMB Christmas

CHRISTMAS SMB (Secret Men's Business) will be held at the home of Rex and Anne Jones on the 2nd of December. To allow Rex to cater more effectively, could you please make sure you advise Rex or myself of your attendance as early as possible.

Our last meeting was lawn bowls at Hahndorf. It was a good night despite the cold, and we were happy to have 3 women join us for the night.

Last Friday was the last Brekkie Club when the whole school was present. Next Friday, December 6 will now be the last Brekkie Club for 2019 and we'll only have the secondary school students as the primary are having a sleepover on the Thursday night and will be making their own breakfast.
