World Watch List 2020
Every year Open Doors International publishes a list of the 50 most dangerous countries for Christians. The list and interactive world map changes according to the levels of danger in which followers of Jesus find themselves, merely by being believers.
According to Open Doors, the nature of persecution against Christians across the world is getting increasingly worse. Released last week, the 2020 World Watch List reveals that, in the top 50 countries alone, 260 million Christians face a level of persecution measured as extreme, very high or high.
Other important findings include:
Christians in 34 countries experience a very high to extreme level of persecution. In 2019, it was 29 countries. Persecution is going digital, with surveillance cameras, facial recognition software and biometric systems used to monitor and target Christians. Despite not ranking in the top 50 last year, the fastest riser on the list was Burkina Faso at #28 due to increasing Islamic extremism in the sub-Saharan region of Africa.

Event Highlights
2020 Planning Day
The Centre for Music, Liturgy and the Arts (CMLA) is organising a Planning Day to assist everyone involved in ministry.
There will be discussion times, brainstorming, prayer and personal planning time as participants look to the needs of their individual communities and shape the year ahead.
Rev Andrew Prior will lead participants through what lies ahead in the lectionary for year ‘A’ and will introduce the book of Matthew. Everyone will go and share lunch together as they begin this new year in ministry.
It is intended that this will be a supportive and collegial time together and participants may well pick up a few gems from what is happening in other communities or find someone with whom to collaborate. It will be great to begin the year together.
When: 28 January 2020, 10:00am – 2:00pm Where: Campbelltown Uniting Church, 609 Lower North East Rd, Campbelltown What to bring: Bible, planner (digital or paper) Cost: $15 plus the purchase of lunch
Find more information and booking details on the CMLA website here [https://www.cmla.org.au/events/planning-day/]. Or contact Anne Hall on 8267 2657 or email [admin@cmla.org.au].
